Data Privacy Statement
The protection of your privacy and personal data is crucial to the conception and implementation of our online activities.
This data privacy statement informs users about the type, extent, and purpose of the collection and use of their personal data on our websites (hereinafter called “Offers“) by the responsible provider GLOBALG.A.P. c/o FoodPLUS GmbH, Spichernstr. 55, 50672 Cologne, Germany; E-Mail:email@example.com; Tel: +49 (0) 221-57993-25. The legal bases of data protection are to be found in the German Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG), the German Telemedia Act (Telemediengesetz, TMG), and the German General Data Protection Regulation (Datenschutzgrundverordnung, DSGVO). This data privacy statement applies to several of our Offers (for example www.globalgap.org; www.ggn.org; database.globalgap.org) and can be accessed from each of these Offers.
Access Data / Server Log Files
The website operator (or its web space provider respectively) collects data on every access to the Offer (called server log files). This access data includes: name of the website or web service retrieved, the file, date and time of the retrieval, volume of data transferred, data entered – if applicable, notification of successful retrieval, browser type and version, the user’s operating system, referrer URL (previously visited page), IP address, username – if applicable, and provider. The provider exclusively uses the log data for statistical analyses that support the site’s operation, security, and optimization. However, the provider reserves the right to review the log data later on, if they have reasonable cause to suspect its illegitimate use.
Handling of Personal Data
Personal data is information that allows conclusions as to the identity of users, which means that details, such as their name, e-mail address, or telephone number can be traced back to an individual. However, personal data also includes information on the preferences, hobbies, memberships, or websites a person has viewed. The provider will only collect, use, or forward personal data if this is legally permitted or if the users consent to the data collection.
When the provider is contacted (for example via contact form, telephone, or e-mail), the personal data will be stored for the purpose of processing the request and in the event that follow-up questions arise.
Comments and Contributions
If users leave comments in blogs or make other contributions, their IP addresses are stored in order to assure the provider’s security in the event of illegal content in comments and contributions (insults, illegal political propaganda etc.). In this case, the providers themselves can be held responsible for the comment or contribution and are therefore interested in the identity of the user.
In our mass mailings, such as the newsletter, we inform our users about us and our Offers. If our users wish to receive mass mailings, we require their valid e-mail address as well as information that allows us to verify that they are the holder of the given e-mail address and, accordingly, that its holder agrees to receive these mass mailings. Additionally, we collect data about the specific topics our users wish to be informed about. Further data is not collected. This data is only used for sending the mass mailings and will not be disclosed to third parties. With the registration for our mass mailings, the user’s IP address and the registration date will be stored for evidence in case a third person abuses an e-mail address. When our users access data and pages on our Offers or insert data, we draw your attention to the fact that the data transmission via internet is unsecured. Therefore, the data may be retrieved and falsified by unauthorized persons. Users may revoke their consent to the storage of their data, the e-mail address and its use for mass mailings at any time. The revocation can be effected through a link in the mass mailings themselves or by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our users can register for different purposes on our Offers. During registration, we collect the data we need for the respective registration. We strive for maximum transparency as to who can access which data. For our Offer database.globalgap.org, our users can find a detailed documentation under http://www.globalgap.org/de/documents?q=(Data Access Rules). The registration data is only used within the scope of the respective Offer and will not be forwarded to third parties, unless our users agree to this explicitly. With the registration, we save your IP address and the data the users have entered in the registration form. If our users access pages and data on our Offers or enter data on themselves, we draw their attention to the fact that the data transmission via internet is unsecured. Therefore, this data may be retrieved and falsified by unauthorized parties. Users may revoke their consent to the storage of the data entered for registration at any time. However, this would result in the complete deregistration. The revocation can be effected on the Offer or by e-mail to email@example.com.
Depending on the Offer, it is possible to pay pending fees online during registration. The online payment data is strictly separated from the registration data. If our users opt for online payment, the data they enter is not stored by us, but transmitted directly to Payone for credit check and the initiation of the payment process.
Integration of Third-Party Services and Content
There may be cases where we embed third-party content, such as YouTube videos, Google Maps material, RSS feeds, or graphics from other websites into our online Offers. For this, it is necessary that the providers of these contents (hereinafter referred to as “third-party providers”) register the user’s IP address, as they would not be able to transmit the content to the respective browser without it. The IP address is therefore required to display these contents. We try to only embed contents whose provider exclusively uses the IP address for this purpose. However, we cannot control the storage of the IP address for statistical purposes by third-party providers. If such a case arises, we will inform the user.
Cookies are small files that allow device-specific information to be stored on the user’s device (PC, smartphone, or the like). On the one hand, they serve users by increasing the usability of websites (e.g. by remembering log-in data), and on the other hand, they serve to gather statistical data about the website’s usage for analysis to improve the Offers. The users may influence the use of the cookies. Most browsers feature an option which limits or completely prevents the storage of cookies. However, one should be aware of the fact that the use of websites and especially their usability is limited without cookies. Our users can administrate many online advertising cookies on the US-American site http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or the EU site http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/. We save cookies on our users’ hard drive if they do not block this actively.
These Offers use Piwik, an open-source software for statistical analysis of user accesses. Piwik uses so-called “cookies”, text files that are saved on the user’s computer which allow the analysis of the use of the webpage. The information about the use of these Offers generated by the cookie is saved on the provider’s server in Germany. The IP address is anonymized directly after its use and before it is stored. Users can prevent the installation of cookies through certain settings in their browser software; but the provider reminds the users that, in this case, they might not be able to make use of all the website’s features.
Integration of Facebook Social Plug-ins
There are social plug-ins (“plug-ins”) of the social network facebook.com, which is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“facebook”), embedded into these Offers. The plug-ins are recognizable by one of the facebook logos (white “f” on blue square or a “thumbs up”-sign), or are marked with the addition “facebook social plug-in”. The list and the shape of facebook social plug-ins are to be found here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/. When users access a webpage of these Offers that contains such a plug-in, their browser establishes a direct connection to the facebook servers. Facebook directly transmits the plug-in content to your browser, which embeds it into the webpage. The provider therefore does not have any influence on the data volume that facebook collects with these plug-ins and informs the user according to the current state of knowledge. By embedding the plug-ins, facebook is informed when a user accesses a certain page of the Offers. If the user is logged into facebook, facebook can relate this access to the facebook account. When users interact with the plug-in, for example by hitting the like-button or making a comment, their browser transmits this information directly to facebook and stores it there. If a user is not a member of facebook, facebook might still find out about their IP address and store it. According to facebook, in Germany only anonymized IP addresses are saved. The purpose and volume of the data collection and its further handling and use by facebook as well as rights concerning this matter and options for privacy protection of the users are to be found in facebook’s data policy: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. If users are facebook members and do not want facebook to collect data about them through these Offers and relate this to their account data on facebook, they have to log out before accessing the Offers. It is also possible to block facebook social plug-ins with add-ons for your browser, for example with the “facebook blocker”.
Revocation, Changes, Corrections, and Updates
The users are entitled to obtain information on any stored personal data relating to them upon request and free of charge. Furthermore, they have the right to correct, disable, and delete their personal data, unless there is legal obligation for it to be archived. In the course of our Offers’ further development, we will also update our data privacy statement continuously. Any changes will be announced on this page on a timely basis. For this reason, our users should visit this page from time to time, in order to be up-to-date regarding our data privacy statement.
These Offers are exclusively operated by servers in Germany. This excludes third-party services and contents, which we cannot make a statement on.
Legal Bases of Data Processing
When processing your personal data, which we need to fulfil a contract with you, Art. 6 (1) lit. b) DSGVO serves as the legal basis for data processing. This also includes processing operations that are used to carry out pre-contractual measures.
If we are obliged to process personal data to fulfil a legal obligation, the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. c) DSGVO.
If the processing of your personal data is carried out by us or a third party to safeguard a legitimate interest and none of your interests, fundamental rights, or freedoms outweighs this legitimate interest, data processing is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f.) DSGVO.
Insofar as we obtain your consent for the processing of personal data, the legal basis for this data processing is Art. 6 (1) lit. a) DSGVO.
For any questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
In case of discrepancy between translations, the German version of the data privacy statement shall prevail.
